Snoboard Fitness Routine

 

This video (by Fitness Blender) demonstrates a great, challenging, and effective exercises for snowboard fitness and ski fitness. From getting those knees primed and ready for moguls and jumps, coordination drills to have more control of the board or skis under your feet, and of course the most important part of a workout – your core.

You’ll be doing 3 sets of 10 exercises, 2 exercises at a time.

Take some time with the accompanying list to learn the exercise in detail in order to perform them correctly in order to get the most out of this workout.

Recommended rest times:
10 seconds rest between each Exercise
20 seconds rest between each Group

Group 1
1. Isolation Jump Squats (16 reps)
2. Russian Twist (14 reps)

Do 3x

Group 2
1. Agility Dots (16 reps each direction)
2. Tricep Dips (16 reps)

Do 3x

Group 3
1. Single Leg Lateral Hops (20 reps each leg)
2. Half Squat Calf Raises (16 reps)

Do 3x

Group 4
1. Single Leg Ventral Hops (20 reps each leg)
2. Half Squat Toe Raises (16 reps)

Do 3x

Group 5
1. Jump Turns (20 reps)
2. Plank to Side Star

Do 3x

In order to get into Snowboard Fitness, you’ll need to take several steps – steps needed to both be safe, and be fit to handle the slops.

What I like about specialized sport training is that you focus on stages from Stage 1 to whatever Stage your periodization program is built around. As an MMA Conditioning Coach, I like to really focus on the corrective phase of training – one where we focus on the details that will eventually keep your body at top shape and moving correctly to avoid injury and to get the most out of training.

With Snowboard Fitness you’ll begin with warmups that include corrective phase of training to improve (or correct) posture and balance. You’ll learn mobility as well as activation exercises in order to use your muscles correctly and in the right order!

As a fighter, and in this case, a Snowboarder, the corrective phase is the most important part of your training workout and prepare your body for Phase 2 – functional strength exercises.

The Second Phase of Snowboard Fitness focuses on your core: balance, stability, and rotational core exercises along with multi-joint exercises and power.

Phase Three of Snowboard Fitness includes what many gyms and personal trainers include in their program: High Intensity Interval Training or HIIT. HIIT is a scientifically proven to improve both Aerobic and Anaerobic energy systems simultaneously.

The final phase of Snowboard Fitness bookends any time of workout – stretching and flexibility.
